My N Scale layout is on ongoing project with no time constraints attached to it and will be completed in stages. As yet I have not thought of a name for my layout, and the track plans, well they are still in the planning stage. It will be more freelance but hopefully with prototypical operations.
The bench work / baseboard is partially completed with one 3 m run along one wall and the lift-out section being 1.5 m completed and ready for planning and track work. However, the plans for the South staging yard are ready to go, the base board for this area is also ready for track laying.
The base board in its entirety will be of the shelf type running round the walls of the train room with a lift out section, 1.500 ×.150 this will allow the door to open and close when in place. Two walls have 3 meter (10ft) baseboards with a width of .300 mm (1ft) and one end wall is 2.5 meters (8 1/4 ft) and the baseboard were the lift out attaches is 1.5 meters (5ft).
I shall be powering my railway with good old fashioned 12v DC with a common return wiring method and cab control to allow multi train running. The 16v auxiliary will also have a common return.
Controllers:
- Gauge master twin track
- Gauge master walk about
Track Work:
- Peco code 80, flexi track for the straight main line runs
- Set track radius #2 and radius #3 for bends and curves
- Medium points for mainline
- Set track points for yards, heritage line, and some industrial areas.
